# Trusted Third Party Integration

dot.base @ Charité uses Charité's Trusted Third Party (TTP). The TTP is based on a project from Greifswald University Hospital (opens new window) and offers services for pseudonym and consent management. This is especially helpful if you plan to use dot.base in a research context to meet data security requirements.

It allows dot.base users to register one or several pseudonyms for a patient in different contexts of usage, such as e.g. a clinical trial. By doing so, dot.base can manage research data without mixing it up with clinical data. Besides, a Trusted Third Party also offers authorization and user role management to restrict access to research and study data. If a user requests research data for a specific patient on dot.base, a set of pseudonyms for the specific patient is fetched from TTP including only those pseudonyms.
